Story Structure
The author wanted use to feel angry when the characters at school found out that the books they got were in poor use. Anther time the author wanted us to feel fearful when they got a visitor at night warning them about the night men coming to burn their house down. In the book the words they use had a lot of slang with a southern accent. The point of view is in Cassie's view. Which is first person, this lets us know what she is thinking an is easier to feel what she feels.
