04-08-19 My thoughts on the book are that they live in a very racist town. Their books are old, they have to walk to school, and there are burning's on black peoples homes. They are also segregated for schools and white people treat blacks like trash. Right now Cassie is kinda like the mother of the house when her parents aren't there. I think it is kinda sketchy that they guy (Mr. Morrison) just shows up with their dad and gets to stay at their house. I wonder if it has anything to do with the burning's and if so how?
04-12-19 My thoughts on the chapter I read are that I am very surprised that John Henry was murdered and burned to death just for flirting with a white women. The white guys were drunk so they could've done much worse. Also the Logan's don't really make a big deal about the death....almost like it happens regularly. I'm glad their Papa told them not to go into the store with drugs and cigars, they could've been tempted to do risky actions that could ruin them.
04-24-19 My thoughts on the chapter I read is that it was very clever of the Logan's to pull that prank on the white kids in the bus. Everyday the kids would walk home from school and on their way that same bus would come by and splash them in mud water shouting offensive names. It was brave of them and took a lot of effort to make the hole for the bus. I hope now those kids have learned their lesson and won't do it again.
05-10-19 My thoughts on chapter 5 was that I feel for Cassie! She shouldn't have to wait forever if she was in line first! And she shouldn't have to walk on the street! That was not right! I'm confused on what Uncle Hammer is going to do to Mr. Simms...Maybe they have a history. He might get the Logans in trouble though.
