So far, I got through chapter one and these are my thoughts.
I could not believe that the teacher couldn't understand why the kids were getting mad about the books. Isn't she black too? she should understand. I don't think black people should have been treated differently just because they had darker skin. I think that they should have been treated the same way. We are all basically the same. What's so different about them? Why did people mistreat them?
Chapter 2 thoughts 4/12/19
In this chapter, Cassie's dad came back to visit them and brought Mr. Morrison along with him. I think that it's crazy that they just welcomed a total stranger into their house with open arms. What if he was a serial killer? What would they do then? I wonder why the kkk people decide to burn down a house just because the people living in it were black. I also am interested in the way Cassie and her family lived. They worked a cotton field and their dad worked laying railroad. Also, they seem to have an interesting but tiny house.
Beginning of chapter 3 thoughts 4/24/19
I feel like nobody mentioned the fact that they don't wear shoes when they walk to school. The entire thing with the bus driver is ridiculous. He is a grown man who should treat people with the proper respect they deserve. I bet that more than once one of them has tripped or cut themselves because of the bus splashing them and wiping them off their feet.
Thoughts 5/10/19
I con't believe that Mr. Berry can't even speak anymore! I never really knew what the Wallaces did to mr. Berry and his nephews. Why would they pour kerosene all over them and set them on fire. I love how the kids got away with the whole bus thing.
